Here’s a question from a reader:

  • Power Map is installed but not enabled. If Power Map is installed but not shown on the ribbon, try this to make sure the add-in is enabled: Click File Options. In the Manage box, pick COM Add-ins and click Go. Under Add-ins available, check the Microsoft Power Map for Excel box and click OK.
  • No longer a preview add-in, Power Map can now be found on the “Insert” tab in Excel for Office 365 ProPlus customers. Subscription customers will have access to all the new and upcoming features of Power Map, from new types of data visualizations on the Bing map, to new 3-D analysis features, to new ways of storytelling with your “tours”.

We are licensed for Office Pro-Plus 2013. We also have and enterprise Office 365 account. I am trying to get the Excel-Addin Powermap running on my Excel. When trying to find information on this I get the Download which is a PowerMap Preview but if you have Office 365 it is not a preview. So how do I get the Office 365 PowerMap addin. Power Map is an nteractive data visualization features within Excel, which are enhanced with Power BI for Office 365, a cloud-based solution for analyzing, visualizing and sharing data insights. Power Map includes the ability to filter data using three different options: List filter. Let’s you select or exclude individual categories.

Just heard of a new Business Intelligence add-in from Microsoft that ships with Excel and lets you crunch data from different data sources at the same time. That sounds interesting. I am wondering where can i find Power Pivot? How can i add it to Excel?

Fully agree that Power Pivot is a bery powerful tool, and looks like it is picking up quite nicely as the “brains” of the Microsoft Business Intelligence suite.

Excel 2016 and 2013

  • Open Excel.
  • From the left hand side, hit Options.
  • The Excel Options dialog will open.
  • Select Add-ins.
  • At the bottom of the dialog, in the Manage box, select COM Add ins.
  • Hit Go.
  • Select the Microsoft Power Pivot for Excel box.
  • Alternatively, you can use the same procedure to install Power Map, Power View.
  • Hit OK.

Note: A far as i can tell, the Microsoft Data Analysis add-ins are now shipping as part of all Microsoft Office 365 subscriptions as well as Office 2019 Home, & Business and Home & student and Professional versions.

  • Open Excel.
  • From the left hand side, hit Options.
  • The Excel Options dialog will open. Now select the Data tab.
  • In the Data Options tab, check the Enable Data Analysis add Ins box as shown below.

  • Hit OK.
  • Back in your spreadsheet, you’ll notice the Power Pivot tab.
  • From here you can hit the Manage button to get started with acquiring external data (or refreshing ti), working with PivotTables and so forth.

If for some reason, you would like to deactivate Power Pivot in order to troubleshoot any issue, execute the steps above according to your software version, but make sure to uncheck the add-in.
